As soon as I heard about these new products coming down the pipeline, I knew I wanted to create a cohesive trio of cards with them. It’s such a versatile set! It can be used for all kinds of occasions: birthdays, graduations, engagements, weddings, new jobs, retirements, growing families, etc.

I absolutely wanted to keep it simple. I started by stamping the sunburst with a very light, neutral color. I then thought that layering the solid heart stamp and its outline would be enough to fancy it up a bit. However, for me, something was still missing. My trusty scrapbooking friend, Cécile Lavoie, said, “Aurélie, I can’t believe you haven’t thought of doing some kind of hand-stitching on your card!” Well, let me tell you that it didn’t take me long to see the stamp images in a whole new light and grab my stitching kit. I chose a metallic thread so that it would give it that extra “oomph” I was looking for. And it totally worked!

While I was making these cards, I actually found out that one of my former vocal students and her husband are expecting their first baby in the fall. Perfect timing! This stamp set is absolutely perfect for that! To ensure I achieved the cohesive look I wanted to create from one card to the next, I chose the same color scheme, repeated the stamped hearts and opted for a smaller sunburst stitched motif, but this time, all over the front panel of the card. I also used the same embossing folder from card to card to further enhance the cohesiveness. As for the sentiment, I mixed and matched both the Congrats Stamp, and the Add-on Stamp to create one that fit the celebratory occasion.

For the last card, I thought I would try to see just how far I could stretch the main stamp set. Do you see what I did there? I individually stamped the H, U and G of the HUGE word stamp as well as the ‘S’ from the CONGRATS word stamp, die-cut them with the Medium Jane Alphabet Metal Die and created a whole new sentiment—HUGS! Instead of stamping ‘to you both,’ I partially stamped it so that the final card sentiment would read “HUGS to you.” The cohesive approach in creativity was achieved by using the same embossing folder, color scheme, and stamped hearts as before. I also created another stitched background motif, using a different stamp from this release as my stitching template.

There you have it! Three cards ready to send to friends and family. By keeping it simple and using the same design elements in different ways, I had an absolute blast creating. Remember, stamp sets can be as versatile as you want them to be. Sometimes you just have to look at them from another angle, or in this case, have a friend nearby to remind you to do so. We can’t wait to see what you’ll come up with! Please share your projects with us in our Elle’s Studio Facebook Group or on Instagram using the hashtag #ellesstudio!
