A Fantastic Fall Foliage Mini with Guest Emma Kate

Today we get to welcome Emma Kate to the Elle’s Studio blog as our November guest designer! Emma’s creations are colorful and always textural, whether on a layout, or in a notebook or mini album, and she has a wonderful knack of adding layers of paper and mixed media to her project, while still keeping her photos and memories the focus! We think you’ll agree once you see the sweet mini that Emma has created for her first post today, and hope it inspires you to record your favorite fall memories before the holiday season arrives!

Hey Elle’s Studio friends, it’s a very excited Emma here to share my first project as guest designer. I must admit I had a tough time choosing what products to work with first as everything was so beautiful, but I finally settled on the Thankful paper stack as we had just been pumpkin picking and I knew the colours would coordinate perfectly!

Supplies |  Autumn Die Cuts, Home Sweet Home Cardstock Stickers, Jane Tile Alphabet Cardstock Stickers – Red, Moss Green Puffy Alphabet Stickers, Christmas Tiny Shapes and Dots Puffy Stickers, Thankful Paper Stack

I began by sketching out various leaf shapes to create templates for my mini-book pages, then I selected my favourite papers from the Thankful Paper Stack and fussy cut two of each leaf shape. I also covered the back of each leaf with the same patterned paper, paying close attention to the way each pattern would fall as I flicked through my mini-book.

Using three strands of colour-coordinating embroidery thread, I stitched around each leaf, taking more care than I usually would as the back of the stitching would be visible.

Next I added my photos & embellishments to each page, layering the Home Sweet Home Cardstock Stickers with the Christmas Tiny Shapes and Dots Puffy Stickers to create dimension and texture. For my title page I used a combination of the Moss Green Puffy Alphabet Stickers and red Jane Tile Alphabet Cardstock Stickers.

To finish, I used my hole reinforcement punch and the same papers to add that little extra detail to my pages, putting contrasting rings on each page so they stand out just a little.

The Thankful Paper Stack really is the perfect match for documenting those fall stories, I’m sure you will all agree!

Let me introduce myself! My name is Emma, “createwithemmakate” is my social media name and is where you can find all my scrapbooking ventures. I live in Bristol, in the United Kingdom, with my partner Joe and 5 year old little girl, Bea. During the day I work full-time as a Senior Science Technician but at night after I’ve put Bea to bed I like to relax by being creative.

Documenting my memories using paper crafts is such a joy for me, I feel like I have a picture book of Bea’s life which I absolutely love. Also eagerly awaiting the latest scrapbooking collection is always fun, knowing that you have more supplies than you will ever need but just cant resist that patterned paper that you don’t have or those super cute puffy stickers that you absolutely can’t live without. And the best thing about all of that, every scrapbooker understands the madness!

Find Emma’s creations on Instagram and Facebook until she shares her second project with us later this month!
