A Totally Incredible Pocket Page Spread with Meg Gundlach

Our new January 2021 kit and extras have arrived, and at first glance they may seem to be geared toward documenting the people and things we love, our new team member Meg Gundlach is with us today to show us just how versatile they are! Let’s take a look at the incredible pocket pages she’s created using them!

Hi scrappy friends! It’s Meg here, with my very first blog post for the Elle’s Studio Design Team. The new year makes me eager to break out some bright fresh colors and the January 2021 kit and add-ons did not disappoint. There is a ton of versatility for wintery goodness, but give me a rainbow of hearts and I’ll make you a Disney World page, that is just a guarantee.

We went to WDW in 2018 as a now (then?) family of adults for a once-in-a-lifetime trip and I have two massive pocket pages albums to show for it. The Elle’s Studio colors, designs and vibe would really have worked beautifully for any spread in the album, but I knew that I wanted a page with space for a transparent pocket, so I chose this collection of Incredibles photo-ops.

I adore the acetate alphabet range in the shop because they’re awesome for adding a big, bold title to the page without added dimension. On this tag, I used the Navy Acetate Alphabet and ran the letters through a Xyron sticker maker for invisible adhesive. I love the contrast between the large navy letters and the new Dark Pink Puffy Alphabet Stickers.

If I’m honest, I planned this whole spread with the idea of using a cluster of Acetate Hearts on a clear acetate card. This doubled the complications of adhering them, so I simply stitched each one using a coordinating thread. As I’m sure you can tell, all of the stitching on this page is by hand and that meant I could change colors as often as I wanted. I started with the center heart, held it in place with washi, pierced the holes, stitched it on, and then stitched my way through the center of the heart. It was actually much easier than I anticipated.

I repeated the Acetate Hearts in several places across the spread, each time pairing it with a puffy heart from the Puffy Heart Stickers. I consider myself a pretty simple scrapper, so making these areas monochromatic kept them from feeling too busy.

Any type of list journaling tag is always the first one I reach for. Especially in a project this size, sometimes you just need a quick place to record the rides you went on. I was super excited to find that the punctuation/periods from the Black Puffy Alphabet Stickers fit perfectly into the checkboxes.

Thanks for talking Disney albums with me today! I’m so thrilled to have another spread done and in the album. I firmly believe that ALL Elle’s Studio products are perfect for magical memories and I’d love to hear which products you are finding yourself using over and over. I’m also hoping to make Disney pocket pages a priority this year, so if there are any specific areas you would like to see covered, let me know!

We can’t wait to see what memories you record with your January 2021 kit and add-ons, and Meg shows us here that the possibilities are endless—and incredible! Be sure to pin the inspiring projects you find on the blog this week to help you create when your kit arrives. Until then, join us on our Elle’s Studio Facebook Group, too!
