Thankful Week: Family Moments with Marsha Farris

Welcome to another day of our Thankful Week blog posts. Today, design team member Marsha Farris is here to help us get the special photos and stories of the people we love the most, our family members, in a traveler’s notebook. Let’s see another of Marsha’s stunning TN designs!

Hey, Elle’s Studio friends!  It’s Marsha here with you today, and I’m sharing a layout focusing on thankfulness. My family is so important to me, and I wanted to create a spread documenting how very grateful I am for each of them. I chose a few photos of my husband and sons that were taken a few years ago. I thought the pictures really captured their playfulness when they are together.

Supplies | November 2020 Kit, Dark Green Puffy Alphabet Stickers, Autumn Tiny Shapes and Dots Puffy Stickers, Jewel Polka Dot 6 x 8.5 Inch Paper Stack, Fa La La 6 x 8.5 Inch Paper Stack, Christmas Basics 6 x 8.5 Inch Paper Stack, Christmas Tabs Stamp, Large Jane Alphabet Stamp — Solid, Large Jane Alphabet Stamp — Outline, Collected Stamp, Everyday Tabs Metal DieEveryday Tabs Vol. 2 Metal Die, Pocket, Frame, and Flip Up Metal Die

To begin the layout, I selected items from the November kit and add-ons to fit my blue and green color scheme. I also chose to include a pocket page so that I could document several photos and have plenty of room for journaling. I selected a 4″ x 6″ tag from the November Kit, trimmed it to 3″ x 4″, and adhered a photo to it. Using blue and black ink, I stamped a tab and sentiment with the Christmas Tabs Stamp. I used the Everyday Tabs Metal Die to cut it out and attached it to the top of my photo with a mini staple. I used an ampersand die cut from the kit and a few of the Dark Green Puffy Alphabet Stickers to embellish.

For the other pocket, I created a flip up feature using a patterned paper from the Jewel Polka Dot Paper Stack and the Pocket, Frame, and Flip Up Metal Die.  I love this metal die! It makes creating flip ups so quick and easy! I created a tab to add to the bottom of the photo using the Collected Stamp and Everyday Tabs Vol. 2 Metal Die.

I typed my journaling, trimmed it into strips, and added it to a journaling tag from the November Kit. I also added a photo to another journaling tag and embellished it with a thankful die cut.

For the right side of the layout, I selected some patterned papers from the Fa La La and Christmas Basics Paper Stack, trimmed them into strips, and added them to the top and bottom of a piece of white cardstock. I created another tab using the Christmas Tabs Stamp and the Everyday Tabs Metal Die and added it to the top of the page. The Dark Green Puffy Alphabet Stickers were perfect layered over a banner die cut. To complete the title, I did some stamping using blue ink and the solid Large Jane Alphabet Stamp. I slightly offset the outline Large Jane Alphabet Stamp using black ink, and I love the shadow effect it created! As a final finishing touch, I added some of the Autumn Tiny Shapes and Dots Puffy Stickers to the page.

I hope you have found some inspiration for creating a thankful-themed traveler’s notebook layout using the November kit and add-ons!  Happy creating!
