Back-to-School Lunchbox Greeting Cards with Steph Grimes

With a new school year upon us, and a lot of uncertainty, brightening someone’s day with a card is something that we all can do! Whether its for a favorite teacher or star student, greeting cards can brighten anyone’s day! Today Steph Grimes is with us to share two cards that she created using our August kit and add-ons. Let’s see the stellar designs that she is sharing with us!

It’s hard to believe that it’s back-to-school season again already! I made a couple of greeting cards to send to my nieces as they return to school to lift their spirits during this unprecedented season.

Supplies | August 2020 KitA New Day Stickers, Composition Stickers, Chipboard TagsSo Cool Puffy StickersABC Wood Veneer, Wood Veneer Circles, Shine Brighter Stamp, Summer Fun 6 x 8.5 Inch Paper Stack

My first card was inspired by the 3” x 4” tag from the August Kit that looked like a composition notebook. I thought it would be fun to try to make this a flip-up so that it opens like an actual book on the front of the card.

I used a little bit of washi tape to attach the composition book card to the background so that it would open up. I stamped a few lines from the Shine Brighter Stamp inside so I could write a personalized note inside the booklet. I decorated with a few stickers from the A New Day Stickers and the So Cool Puffy Stickers to finish it off.

For my second card, I thought the ABC Wood Veneer would be perfect to feature. I cut the big star from one of the 3” x 4” tags from the August Kit to balance the large wood veneer piece. I cut one of the Composition Stickers in two pieces to add to the top and bottom of the card to hold some of the Wood Veneer Circles. I backed this one with the starry paper from the Summer Fun 6 x 8.5 Inch Paper Stack.

I can’t wait to put these in the mail and hopefully send a little bright spot to my nieces’ day! Do you make cards for back to school? It’s a great idea for this unconventional year to spread some joy! If you do make some cards share them on Instagram using the hashtag #ellestudio or in the Elle’s Studio Facebook Group!
