With a bit of imagination, and a few layers, beautiful greeting cards can be created easily using our monthly kits and add-ons! Today design team member Candace Perkins is here to show us two gorgeous card designs, ready to send to someone to brighten their day. Let’s take a look!
Hello friends! Today I am happy to share a few fun cards using the May 2020 kit and add-ons. I even took the chance to get a bit inky, which I miss, and LOVE! Here is a look at the cards:
For card #1, I started with a yellow card base and built the layers from there. I was inspired by the sun ray card from the May 2020 Kit to build the sentiment and embellishments from the corner. Let the cards in the kit inspire the design of your cards or layouts!
I stamped the sentiment “celebrate THIS” from the Currently Icon Stamp on the bottom ray of the journaling tag. Next, to add a bit more color to the card, I framed the top half of the card with a blue journaling tag. To build balance, I added a die cut star to the lower left corner and built a small embellishment cluster of thread and Acrylic Star. I still needed to add bit more color to the card so I trimmed another journaling tag to line the card base. It was just what this card needed! Celebration card complete!
I love card #2, and it was so fun to make! I was so happy to get inky with the Distress Inks. As soon as I saw the To the Moon and Back Wood Veneer, I knew exactly what I wanted to create. I started by inking the starry sky by using three dark blue inks to create an ombre pattern across the card base.
I wanted to create a bit of interaction between the moon and the edge of the card. I glued the moon down overlapping the edges and trimmed it to create the interaction. To create a little more interest and contrast, I painted the moon with white glitter and the stars with yellow glitter. The finishing touches on the card were created with white ink splatters on the card base to mimic distant stars in the sky. So fun!
