Pocket Page Style: An Analogous Colour Scheme with Jess Forster

I’ve said it before and I will say it again: I LOVE the bright colours in Elle’s Studio products! The July 2019 Kit and add-ons are a feast for the eyes and today I am here to show you how I used an analogous colour scheme to document my son’s summer birthday.

In this double 6″ x 12″ pocket page,  I was hoping to recreate the calm & relaxing feeling of summer. In this layout, I decided to tell the story of what my son loved at the time of his birthday. Hint: this included paw patrol, evening bike rides along the beach and ice cream. Although, I didn’t use traditional birthday-themed supplies, I really wanted to have the cool colour combination that reminded me of the colours we see along lake & boardwalk when we go on our mother-son bike rides & ice cream.

I loved the blue, teal and purples in my photos and I decided to focus on popping those colours using the Puffy Star Stickers, Shine Die Cuts and the journaling tags from the July 2019 Kit. Using a group of three colours, like teal, blue and purple, colours that are next to each other on the colour wheel, is an analogous colour scheme. Since Elle uses a variety of colours in her kits, you could easily make your own analogous colour scheme!

In order to create a bit of contrast, I used teal journaling cards as my main colour focus and created a visual triangle with blue and purple Puffy Star Stickers around my pocket page layout. The adventure die cut tag from the Shine Die Cuts that was placed on the back side of a white journaling card was also used to help to direct the eye around the page and create a visual hierarchy.

Before separating your journaling cards into different piles, I hope this inspires you to use Elle’s products to make your own analogous colour schemes! Thanks for looking!
