You Are Love With January Guest Designer Heba Alsibai

We are so excited to welcome one of our favorite paper crafting designers as the first guest designer for 2019, Heba Alsibai! Heba’s graphic, bold and colorful designs, especially in her traveler’s notebook spreads, consistently “WOW” us, and we are so excited to share what she’s created using our January kit and add-ons, and her post also includes a process video! Let’s take a look:

Hi everyone! My name is Heba Alsibai and I’m so excited to be this month’s guest designer! There’s so much good stuff in the January release, and I created a traveler’s notebook spread using some of my favorite products in the shop.

Supplies | January 2019 Kit, January Labels, Happiness Found Stickers, XO Wood Confetti, Sweetheart Puffy Stickers, Heart and Star Acetate Die Cuts, All My Heart 6 x 6 Paper Stack, Happy Heart Stamp, Jane Alphabet Stamp

I’m a big fan of the new All My Heart 6 x 6 Paper Stack that released this month and wanted to use as many patterns as I could on my traveler’s notebook spread. To make that happen, I cut them down into vertical strips then tore off the edges to give my layouts some texture. Cutting them virtually also helped make this photo of my daughter stand out.

Once I got all the strips of patterned paper stuck down, I layered my picture with some black tissue paper. I decided to use the Happy Heart Stamp to stamp these adorable polka dots randomly on my spread. I love stamps that can be used to add pattern to a blank background. This simple step adds a lot of interest to any background. I also used that same stamp set to do a little second generation stamping using the “XO” stamp. To complete my stamping I stamped “currently enjoying” right next to my daughter’s picture playing her favorite Play Station game.

I wanted my title to be simple and small. The letters in the Jane Alphabet Stamp were the perfect size for that. Even though these are small alphas, they sure add a big bang to my spread. My title wasn’t big enough to cover the whole strip of patterned paper, so I decided to add one of the Heart and Star Acetate Die Cuts right under it. This definitely added color and filled out the space.

My favorite part of crafting is definitely embellishing. The new January release had plenty of embellishments to choose from. If you know me you know I love puffy stickers, so I ended up adding a few hearts, speech bubbles and dots from the Sweetheart Puffy Stickers. I also made sure to add some of the XO Wood Confetti pieces in, just to bring in a different texture to my spread.

I really loved all the new embellishments and paper that released this month. The colors are so bright and beautiful, they just make you want to create! Check out the process video that I created while making this traveler’s notebook spread:

I can’t wait to share more projects with you using Elle Studio’s new January kit and add-ons

Hello everyone! My name is Heba Alsibai, I’m a mother of two teenagers and a wife to a wonderful husband. My husband and I own a small medical supply company that keeps my husband traveling and me working from home. I love that I’m able to work from home, I get to see my kids go off to school and welcome them home when they get back. I live in the beautiful state of Georgia far from the hustle and bustle of Atlanta. I am a total homebody that loves to read and loves to watch reruns of Friends. But by far my favorite thing to do is crafting. I also love sharing my crafty projects on my YouTube channel and Instagram.

Back in 2001 When I gave birth to my first born, I started keeping a little scrapbook album for him. It wasn’t your traditional scrapbook album. It was more of journaling milestones and documenting pictures with dates. I also did the same with my daughter once she was born. But in 2007 I moved to Dubai and became friends with my next-door neighbor who was an avid scrapbooker. Once she shared her beautiful scrapbooking layouts with me, I was hooked.

My crafting journey started with creating traditional scrapbooking layout. But in 2011 I discovered pocket pages and completely switch to pocket page memory keeping. Documenting our daily stories in pockets became something that I enjoyed because of the ease and simplicity of it.

But in 2016 I found traveler’s notebooks and I was so excited to be able to be creative outside the pocket again. I didn’t know how much I missed creating layouts until I found traveler’s notebooks. What I love the most about these notebooks is the size. They are small, so you never feel overwhelmed or intimidated by the size. Not like a traditional scrapbooking layouts. You can create a spread in no time at all. Some of my favorite memories were done in a traveler’s notebook.

With that said, no matter what format I use, as long as I’m crafting I’m happy :). I’m excited to share some of my layouts with you, using the Elle Studio January kit and embellishments!

Heba will be back here on the blog with us next week, but until then, please follow her beautiful work on her YouTube feed and on Instagram.
