Lovely Layers of Color with April Guest Laureen Wagener

Hello everyone! I hope you are all doing great and are ready for my final project and craftspiration post here on the Elle’s Studio blog as a guest designer for this month!

Todays project used lots of fun color and patterns and dimension.
ALL the things I love! This page came together as a happy accident. I actually wanted to create a quilt or paper piecing of some sort and therefore already cut strips of the paper but ended up tossing that idea and turning it into the layout I am sharing today.

Supplies | April 2018 KitCurrently Wood Veneer Tabs, Adventure Puffy StickersNoteworthy Bits and Pieces, Noteworthy Wood Veneers, Noteworthy Puffy Stickers, Noteworthy Epoxy Stickers, Noteworthy Stamp, Noteworthy 12″ x 12″ Paper Collection

I picked out a couple of different patterns—four colorful ones and three designs that had a lot of white space in them from the Noteworthy 12″ x 12″ Paper Collection, then I began adhering them onto my cardstock, but I was missing a little bit of dimension between the papers. I folded up the edges of the papers and l love all the texture it adds!

I cut out a 6″ x 12″ inch piece of cardstock and adhered that using foam tape to the right of my paper layers for even more dimension. Then I decided to print out a black and white photo to really make the colors of the patterned papers pop and stand out! I like a good colorful layout and want my focus to be on the colors!

I used the “loving this” phrase from the Noteworthy Puffy Stickers and adhered them directly onto my photo—I love how they look against the black and white. Then I added the “the story” wooden banner underneath from the Noteworthy Wood Veneers and a red puffy heart, which makes it all come to life and ties it all together. It also adds just the right amount of color to this cluster!

I love color, but I also truly love white space. For that reason I decided to not create any more clusters on the right side of the layout around my picture, but rather go back to my trusted and loved color-on-color technique that I also used on my first project. I used die-cuts from the April 2018 Kit, Noteworthy Bits and Pieces, Noteworthy Epoxy Stickers and added Noteworthy Wood Veneers on the white papers.

Because I left all that white space on the right side it felt a little lost and not done. To help solve that problem I sprinkled black spray mist. I feel like this realy ties together the entire design and makes a great transition from all that color on the left to the black and white photo and white space on the right.

Now, that’s it for todays post and my last post as a guest designer for Elle’s Studio!

I had a blast creating the three projects using the fabulous products!
A big THANK YOU go out to Elle and Meghann for having me, for trusting me and believing in me!

My name is Laureen, I am in my early twenties and from beautiful Germany. I am in school to become a physical therapist and besides all that studying and waiting for my train to take me home, I like to get crafty! I discovered scrapbooking in 2013 and immediatly fell in love with it! Due to a lack of time, I needed to stop, but rediscovered the beauty of it in 2016 while going through chemo as a treatment to beat my cancer. It helped distract me from all the bad things and pain and brought back so much joy! Now I can’t stop and am loving all the memories I have in albums!

My favorite things are enamel dots, because they are like little sugary treats you sprinkle around your page, spray mists and unique embellishments such as wooden pieces or acrylic embellishments. My all time favorite color is yellow and whenever I get a piece of yellow paper or embellishment it will for sure end up on my project!

You can find more of my work at my Instagram feed, my blog, and my YouTube channel!
