Using Your Scraps Challenge with Nancy Damiano

Sometimes all you need are a few scraps to create a beautiful project, and today, Nancy Damiano has done just that with the last few pieces from her October kit and add-ons! Let’s see what she made!

Hey there Elle’s Studio fans, it’s Nancy here today with a last look at the October 2017 Kit. This month I’m challenging myself to use every last bit of my kit. I kept a bowl on my work desk this month and added everything that was left over after completing all my assignments. Admittedly, there wasn’t much to choose from, since I tend to love very embellished pages, but I put a quick and easy card together with just a few elements!

Supplies | October 2017 Kit, Family Fun Bits and Pieces, Puffy Heart Stickers, Halloween Journaling Tags, Halloween Puffy Stickers

I started the card with my favorite 4″ x 6″ aqua, diagonal stripe card from the Happy Halloween Journaling Tags. I liked this pattern so much but it didn’t work with my pocket layouts this month. I love that it’s large enough to create a base for my card with just a tiny strip of white on the right side.

Next, I layered a 3″ x 4″ gray polka dot tag from the October Kit in the center to frame my gray shipping tag from the Family Fun Bits and Pieces. I used pop dots to add dimension to the tag and create a nice shadowbox. Thick twine was wrapped around the tag to give it a different texture and a fall feel.

The center of the card is where all of the fun is! I traced the heart shape onto white cardstock to give me a guideline, then I filled it with Puffy Heart Stickers until none of the white was showing. The popped-up tag was then carefully placed in the center and glued down.

A heart die cut from the kit and an additional yellow puffy heart were adhered to the left side of the shadowbox and repeated the theme. Lastly, an orange “pumpkin everything” sticker from the Halloween Puffy Stickers was used for a greeting.

This was a challenge, but I love how it turned out. One small textural idea (the shadowbox) gives this card a beautiful handmade touch. Get creative using up your scraps!
