Happy Hot Dog Halloween with Jill Sprott

Happy Halloween! You may have already documented countless Halloween celebrations this year, but don’t forget about your four-legged friends, too! If you don your family pet in a costume this year, be sure to document it! Jill Sprott did, using the Halloween items in our shop, and we love the result! Let’s see what she created.

My family absolutely loves Halloween — and when I say “family,” I mean everyone, including our dog, Linus.

Weeks before Halloween, we located a hot dog costume for him, and instead of resisting it, he seemed so happy while in it, even sniffing out the costume whenever he wasn’t wearing it. This layout, created with a variety of Elle’s Studio Halloween-themed items, documents our happy little (hot) dog.

The layout takes its color cues from the holiday as well as from the photos, building on the usual orange-and-black Halloween color scheme, with the addition of (mustard) yellow and (relish) green.

Several trimmed and layered journaling tags from the Happy Halloween Journaling Tags and October 2017 Kit form the title block, to which I added the White Puffy Alphabet Stickers. The journaling tags are tucked into layers of black cardstock, strips of which are arranged in slightly different lengths and angles.

The stitched garland running down the right side of the page contains a mix of vellum, acrylic, Trick or Treat Wood Veneer stars, hand-cut and die-cut shapes, as well as the Halloween Puffy Stickers. I love the way that the garland, with its mix of accents, enlivens the page and complements the silly-sweet photos of our (hot) dog.
