Acrylic Inspiration with September Guest Tracey Fox

After taking a short break over the summer from our guest designer program, we are so excited to welcome a big Elle’s Studio fan and subscriber as our guest designer this month, Tracey Fox! Tracey always inspires us with her colorful and complex page designs that include so many details to look at! The page that she created for us today is no different, and we can’t wait to show you what she made! Let’s take a look.

Tracey Fox here! I’m so thrilled to be guest designing for Elle’s Studio this month, and I’m especially excited to share this page I created with the September kit and add-ons. The bright, primary colors in the kit were absolutely perfect to document the hot air balloon festival I attended over the summer.

Supplies | September 2017 Kit, Wood Veneer Borders, Acrylic Buttons, Autumn SequinsFoodie Stamp, Malia Alphabet Stamp, Dated Stamp, Live Laugh Love 12″ x 12″ Paper Collection

As soon as I saw the adorable Acrylic Buttons add-on, I knew I wanted to use them to mimic the look of balloons on my page. Using black thread, I machine-stitched some lines to create balloon strings on my white background cardstock and adhered the acrylic shapes at the top of each “string.”

I adhered two of my favorite 12″ x 12″ papers from the Live Laugh Love 12″ x 12″ Paper Collection to the top and bottom of the layout before I started arranging my photos and elements from the September Kit on the page. I also arranged two of the 3″ x 4″ tags behind my photos to add a pop of color to the right-hand side of the page and to reinforce the L-shaped design on the layout.

To create my journaling block, I layered up a two of the 3″ x 4″ tags, stamped the date using the Dated Stamp, and placed the block on the layout to make it look like the balloons were floating out of it.

To create my title, I used ink colors matching the kit to stamp letters from the Malia Alphabet Stamp onto a separate piece of white cardstock. I fussy cut around each letter and adhered them to the bottom of the layout.

To embellish the layout, I stamped the “lovin’ it” sentiment from the Foodie Stamp, added some of the Wood Veneer Borders and a diecut from the September Kit. Finally, I scattered the Autumn Sequins across the page in a diagonal formation to add to the whimsical feeling created by the floating, acrylic “balloons.”

Thanks for checking out the blog today! Be sure to snag the September kit and extras while they last!
