An Adventure Pocket Page with Guest Sarah Zayas

It’s a new month, with a new kit in the shop, as well as the new Live Laugh Love collection! We are so excited that Sarah Zayas is joining us this month as our guest designer to create using our new supplies! Even though she was a bit disappointed with the brightness of her pocket page photos from a recent trip, instead of reprinting her photos, she found supplies from our April 2017 Kit and add-ons to brighten her spread. What a great idea! Let’s see what she created.

Hello, friends! I’m so excited be this month’s guest designer and to have the opportunity to share some really fun projects with you over the next few weeks! Today I’ll be sharing a pocket page layout I created using the beautiful April 2017 Kit and the Live Laugh Love collection. The pops of color, the fun journaling and filler tags, and all the bits and pieces are so fun and versatile for any paper project!

As soon as I opened the April 2017 Kit I immediately noticed these fun yellow pops of color. We had just taken a trip to Mammoth, California, where it was beautiful and snowy, but the photos came back a little dark and grey. I needed something to brighten up my pages to make them feel as happy as the trip was, and the yellow cards and embellishments contributed to that look and feel perfectly.

In order to create a balanced look in my pages I spread the yellow color throughout my layout. I used two journaling tags in the middle section to write about our trip, a yellow label tag from the Live Laugh Love- Small Blank Labels for stamping the date on in the top left corner, a yellow heart embellishment from the Live Laugh Love- Bits and Pieces in the top right corner, and that cute little yellow tab in the bottom left corner. Spreading pops of color around my entire layout is one of my favorite techniques for creating a well balanced colorful layout.

For my bottom left pocket I decided to create a mini-layout on my 4” x 6” tag. I had a 2.5” x 2.5” photo for this pocket, so I decided to play around with some layering. I used the 4″ x 6″ tag from the Live Laugh Love- Double-sided Journaling Tags as my base and then tucked some stamped sayings, using the Sights and Sounds Stamp above my photo. One of my favorite things about Elle’s Studio kits is that you get plenty of pieces for layering, like that little tab divider I stamped “can’t get enough” on. I mean seriously, how cute is that tab?! The Black Puffy Stickers that I used to spell out Mammoth with and the little star wood veneer from the Live Laugh Love Wood Veneers were the perfect additions to finish off the tag without making it look too crowded.

Also, can we talk about the Explore Acrylic? This is normally the kind of thing I’d hoard for way too long, but it was so perfect for this foot photo. I love how it stands out, but isn’t too overwhelming for the layout.

I really love how all of the elements from the kit and add-ons, along with the Live Laugh Love collection brought this layout to life and how each piece worked so well to complement the photos from our trip! Thank you so much for joining me today for a walkthrough of this 6” x 12” page. I look forward to seeing you again soon for another project! Until then, happy crafting!

Hi, friends! My name is Sarah and I live in Southern California with my husband and our puppy, Nugget. I’ve loved crafting for as long as I can remember, and in fact, one of the first completed projects I can remember making was a yearbook style scrapbook in Middle School!

I am currently on the Ali Edwards and Feed Your Craft design teams, and I’m super excited to be teaching my first class over at Big Picture Classes in April 2017! If you love pocket pages I hope you’ll check it out!

When I’m not scrapbooking in my free time, I’m usually relaxing with my husband and our dog, reading, scrolling Instagram, working on home projects, or planning our next adventure (I love a good adventure!).

Be sure to stop back next week to see another beautiful project created by Sarah! Until then, follow her work on Instagram, YouTube and her blog.
