Project Life

Welcome to another week of Project Life at Elle’s Studio!
This week I am sharing something a little different for our Project Life post.  My children went back to school last Thursday.  This is the first year they are both in the same school full day (Kindergarten and 1st grade).  After I went home that first day and dried a few tears, I decided I wanted to create albums just for them documenting their year in school.

I used Elle’s Studio’s Penelope (available in early September) to create Jordan’s first day of school album page.   I loved using the “My Favorites” and “These are the Facts” journaling cards to document her day, and her favorites right now.

I included her photo that morning as an insert.  On the backside I placed a certificate she got from her teacher for her first day of kindergarten.

A few other things included were her class list (which is blurred for obvious reasons), a note about how it felt walking away on that first day, a note in her lunch box and a sweet smiley face from her teacher.

I also started an album just for Jonah documenting his 1st grade year.
For the first pages of his album I used primarily items from our Cameron Collection.

I also used the “My Favorites” and “These are the Facts” Journaling Cards (Cameron Large and Medium Journaling Tags) in the same way, as Jordan’s layout.  I even used many of the same photos.  Using a similar set up helped cut down time for putting this spread together!

My goal for these albums will be different than how I view our family Project Life albums.  These will not be put together in a weekly time frame– I am letting it be open to however it comes together.  I am also not limiting the content to school activities/events.  I want this album to showcase their lives this year so I will probably do a little of everything!  I am excited to see how this album turns out.

Right now is a great time to start Project Life.  I have always viewed August as the second “new year”, and August of 2011 is when I started my own Project Life journey.  It’s a perfect time to give it a try!
We want to feature your Project Life album!  During the last week of each month we will be featuring a couple Project Life spreads that caught our eye in the Member Gallery.  We will be posting Project Life spreads on our blog tomorrow!   If your spread is featured we will be sending you a $5 gift card to use in our store.   Good Luck!

Project Life was created by Becky Higgins as a way to simplify how you document life and preserve memories. Photo pockets used in my Project Life album are created by Becky and can be found here.  You can read of all the Elle’s Studio Project Life posts here.
